- Moneta Farm and Home Center is authorized to refill Propane tanks up to 100lbs, Vehicle Mounted Fuel tanks, RV Tanks and refillable 16oz Tanks, Propane is sold by the pound and there are 4.2 lbs per gallon,
- To Calculate total used take the amount of Propane in Gallons and multiply by 4.2

Types of Propane Tanks We Can Refill
20# Standard Grill Cylinders
- Have your Gas Grill Cylinder refilled while you wait, Refilling is always a better deal than Exchange
- Only in date Steel Cylinders can be filled, we are not authorized to refill composite Tanks
Forklift Cylinders
- We refill fuel cylinders for Forklifts, floor buffers and other industrial cylinders to keep your business fueled and moving
RV Mounted Cylinders
- Have us fill up your RV mounted tank to be ready when you hit the road
- We cannot fill the tank if it powers the main Drive engine of the unit
30 # and 40# Steel Cylinders
- Have your 30 or 40 # Portable RV or Recreational Tank Filled while you Wait
100# Propane Cylinders
- Have us fill your 100 # heating Cylinders while you wait
- Please Note that Federal DOT Regulations prevent us from filling any 100# tank that will be transported in an enclosed Vehicle
- 100 # Cylinders are Required to be transported in a upright position, Per Federal DOT guidelines
FAQ on Propane Refills
Do we purge tanks?
- Yes Moneta Farm and Home Center Purges all tanks that require it most new Grill size and tanks under 100# are Vacuumed Purged from the factory but we will Purge your tank if needed and applicable to the situation
Can We Fill Propane Tanks during Inclement weather
- Moneta Farm and Home Center can Fill tanks provided there is not active lighting in the area, We cannot for safety fill propane while lightning is within 5 miles of the location,
- We can Fill tanks in most other weather conditions as safety allows
Can we Fill Tanks that were purchased from other dealers or exchanged
- Yes Moneta Farm can fill any suppliers tank as long as it is not expired and passes a visual inspection
What do i do with my old or expired tank
- Leave the Tank with us we work with vendors to be able to dispose of your old or expired tanks, most Grill size are sent back to vendor for reconditioning and recertifications other are sent to Scrap for recycling into new steel products, See an Associate prior to leaving a tank so we can store it properly
When Does a Cylinder Expire
- A Propane cylinder must be requalified at 12 years after the original date of manufacture. Once a Propane cylinder is requalified, if the requalification letter is an “E” then it does not expire until 5 years after the date that it was stamped. If the requalification letter is an “S” then it does not expire until 10 years after the date that it was stamped
Can Moneta Farm and Home Requalify my Expired Cylinder
- No. Requalifying requires additional licensing that we do not have, however if you wish to have it requalified our associated can point you in the direction of a Propane Supplier that can, Watts, Blossman, Amerigas, and Others
How Many Cylinders can be filled at a time
- The Department of Transportation regulates how much Propane can be transported in a vehicle. For Close Bodied Vehicles, the limit is 90 total pounds of Propane, with no single cylinder holding more than 45 pounds. As a reminder, a grill cylinder is typically called a “20lb cylinder” because it holds 20 lbs of Propane. After the cylinder is filled though, it will weigh approximately 37 lbs. For Open Bodied Vehicles, the limit is 1,000 lbs gross aggregate weight. Gross aggregate weight is the weight of the cylinder in total after it is filled with Propane.
- Additionally in time of high demand Moneta Farm and Home Center may Limit amount of tanks filled so as to be fair to all customers during high demand
Can my Tank be filled on the Truck or Trailer
- NO. A Propane cylinder must always be removed from the vehicle or trailer in order to be properly grounded. Further, all cylinders must be filled on an industrial scale to prevent overfilling. We understand that this is sometimes an inconvenience, however we value the safety of our customers and Team Members and will always require that the cylinder is filled on the scale.
- Moneta Farm and Home Center Staff will be able to assist you with loading the tank back on to the truck or Trailer, but do to insurance and DOT guidelines we are unable to assist in securing it.
Can I Drop off my tank to be filled and pick-up later
- No, We cannot have unattended unsecured cylinders on site, we have no secure storage available for Customers tanks
- Moneta Farm and Home Center is not liable for any lost, damaged or stolen tanks that are left on site
What is the Coldest/Hottest Temp that we Can continue to fill Tanks
- We can dispense propane as long as the pump and equipment allows,
- In Extreme hot or Cold wait times may increase as pump fills slower and to allow us to rotate staff for safety
Can you Fill Propane when there is a Power Outage
- No, we are currently not set-up to have our filling station powered by stand-by Generators, we will be able to resume filling once main utility power is restored
Can I Chose not to have my Cylinder totally filled or just topped off
- Yes we have a calibrated industrial scale and Meter head, that is certified accurate, tell us where you want us to stop and we will get as close as we can, and only charge for the amount used
Are there any Minimum amounts to have tank filled
- No Moneta Farm and Home Center has no Minimum amount that will be billed
Are there any Service Fees involved
- No Moneta Farm and Home Center does not Charge fees for this service, the customer only pays for the amount of product pumped.
